TikTok is stepping up its game in the sports world, and the 2026 FIFA World Cup is its biggest play yet. On Wednesday, the video-sharing platform announced a lineup of 30 users who will serve as "Creator Correspondents" throughout the tournament's five-week run this summer. This move is part of TikTok's broader "Preferred Platform" partnership with FIFA, which was first announced earlier this year. The goal? To make TikTok the go-to digital hub for World Cup discovery, highlights, and fan engagement.

These Creator Correspondents won't just be watching from the sidelines. According to a press release, they'll be stationed in host cities across all three host countries—Canada, Mexico, and the United States. Their mission is to offer fans an all-access pass to the action, with behind-the-scenes content from bus arrivals, training sessions, and press conferences. They'll also focus on fan-led storytelling during games, bringing the competition to life in a way that only TikTok creators can.

So, who are these lucky 30? They come from four continents and nearly a dozen countries, reflecting the truly global nature of the World Cup. TikTok says it selected them after an extensive review process, specifically looking for creators who have already built organic, soccer- and sports-focused communities on the platform. (For context, TikTok notes that more than 60 million sports creators are currently active on the app.) Some names, like Rachel DeMita, are already well-known in mainstream sports creator circles. Others come from soccer-specific niches that have exploded on TikTok in recent years, producing content like refereeing explainers and deep dives into supporter culture.

This isn't TikTok's first rodeo when it comes to major sporting events. The platform previously sent seven creators to the Milan and Paris Games as part of NBC's Olympic Creator Collective program, alongside talent from YouTube and Meta. The Paris Creator Collective was a standout success, generating roughly 300 million total views across social platforms. But with 30 creators and a dedicated "Preferred Platform" status, the 2026 World Cup is shaping up to be TikTok's most ambitious sports play yet.
