The Western Conference finals are shaping up to be an epic showdown between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the San Antonio Spurs, and the Thunder just got a major boost. Star guard Jalen Williams has confirmed he will be fully healthy for the series, giving OKC a significant edge as they chase another championship.
Williams revealed the news via his YouTube channel on Friday, after missing the Thunder’s previous six games with a hamstring strain. The timing couldn’t be better—Oklahoma City just completed a sweep of the Los Angeles Lakers earlier this week, giving Williams extra time to recover. “It’s good that I haven’t had to rush back from my hamstring stuff at all,” he said in the video. “I’m actually taking extra days now than what was originally planned because we were up 3-0. There was no point in going into this series and possibly hurting myself before we have to play the Timberwolves or the Spurs. I’m about to go into another series healthy.”
The Thunder have been dominant without him, posting an 8-0 record so far this postseason. They breezed past the Phoenix Suns and a Lakers squad missing Luka Dončić, but the Spurs present a much tougher challenge. San Antonio and OKC finished the regular season with the two best records in the NBA—64 and 62 wins, respectively—and the Spurs won the season series 4-1.
Williams was arguably the Thunder’s second-most valuable player during their championship run last year, and he’s expected to fill a similar role this postseason. While his regular-season numbers dipped slightly from 2024-25, his defensive versatility will be critical against a Spurs team loaded with perimeter threats around Victor Wembanyama. For Thunder fans, this is the news they’ve been waiting for: their full-strength squad is ready to battle for a spot in the NBA Finals.
