With the 2026 FIFA World Cup just over a month away, Spain coach Luis de la Fuente has given fans plenty to talk about. At the recent presentation of his autobiography, Life is Trained Every Day—written alongside journalist Eduardo Verdu—the manager opened up about his team's brightest young stars and their road to the tournament.

The book chronicles de la Fuente's remarkable journey: from his playing days to leading Spain to Nations League glory in 2023 and a European Championship triumph in 2024. But it was his comments on Barcelona's teenage sensation Lamine Yamal that really stole the spotlight.

"Apart from his great talent, he trains three hours a day, goes to the gym, visits his physio, his nutritionist and his psychologist, and gives himself to his invisible training, which is the most important thing," de la Fuente said. "Invisible training is something that many people are unaware of. It's about being 24 hours thinking about your work. Nobody gives Lamine anything."

The praise didn't stop there. With Yamal currently nursing an injury, the Spain boss offered a reassuring update: "I talk about Lamine because I know him very well. God willing, he will arrive at the World Cup as well as possible." That's music to the ears of Barcelona, who have been understandably anxious about their star winger's workload during the tournament.

But Yamal isn't the only Barcelona prodigy on de la Fuente's radar. Gavi, who has been turning heads with his recent club performances, could be a surprise late addition to the squad.

"He's in a very good moment. Best of all, he has recovered. He's competing fantastically at his club and we celebrate. That's the best news," de la Fuente said. "Then we will make the decision whether to call up a player or not."

Given Gavi's consistent form over recent weeks, it's looking increasingly likely that the dynamic midfielder will be boarding that plane to the World Cup. For Spain fans—and anyone who loves seeing young talent shine on the biggest stage—that's a thrilling prospect indeed.
