At the helm, head coach Patrick Murphy was named SEC Coach of the Year for the sixth time in his legendary career at Alabama. This is his first such honor since 2019, adding to previous wins in 2006, 2010, 2012, and 2014. It's a testament to the program's sustained excellence under his leadership.

Auburn battered the Gators' top two pitchers: starter Keagan Rothrock gave up four earned runs over the first three innings, and though she re-entered in the seventh, she surrendered a solo homer that cut Florida's lead to just one run. No. 2 pitcher Olivia Miller didn't fare much better, allowing four runs on seven hits over three innings. It's unclear who the Gators will start against Alabama, but Rothrock—who leads all SEC pitchers in innings (181.1) with a 26-6 record and 2.55 ERA—has been inconsistent lately, allowing three runs in a win over Georgia before getting shelled for nine runs in a loss two days later.
