Manchester United's summer midfield rebuild might be hitting a major roadblock—Bournemouth star Alex Scott, one of their top targets, is now being tipped for an England World Cup spot as the Cherries move to secure his future.

The 22-year-old midfielder has been nothing short of sensational this season, playing a pivotal role in Bournemouth's unexpected push for European football. His breakout campaign has turned heads across the Premier League, with United among a host of elite clubs closely monitoring his situation.

United already have Nottingham Forest's Elliot Anderson, Brighton's Carlos Baleba, and Atalanta's Ederson at the top of their summer wishlist. But Scott could be a cost-effective addition for the Red Devils, who are also looking to strengthen other areas of their squad ahead of a potential return to the Champions League.

However, Bournemouth aren't sitting still. Aware of the growing interest—including links to Chelsea—the Cherries have already started planning to tie Scott down to a new long-term contract. His current deal runs until 2028, putting them in a strong negotiating position. But they're not leaving anything to chance, especially with United lurking. A new deal with improved wages is expected to be enough to keep interested clubs at bay.

On the international front, Scott has been backed to make Thomas Tuchel's England World Cup squad this summer. His numbers tell the story: he's created four big chances while winning 55% of his duels, averaging 1.6 tackles, 2.1 clearances, and 5.1 ball recoveries per 90 minutes. These performances have caught the eye of former Bournemouth defender Charlie Daniels, who called on Tuchel to include the uncapped star.

"Yes, I think I do," Daniels told talkSPORT when asked if Scott deserves a World Cup spot. "I think he's played so well this season, and he's shown it every single game—how good he is. Also in the Under-21s last year when they won. So I think he deserves a chance."

For United fans dreaming of a midfield revamp—and for anyone tracking the next big thing in English football—Scott's name is one to watch this summer.
