Kansas State has landed one of the nation's most disruptive defensive talents, and his name is Wendell Gregory. A consensus 4-star recruit out of high school and a top transfer portal prospect, Gregory brings game-changing energy to the Wildcats' defensive line.
Standing at 6'3" and 235 pounds, Gregory originally committed to South Carolina out of high school, choosing the Gamecocks over offers from Tennessee, Louisville, Auburn, Michigan, and Kansas State. After his freshman season, he made the move to Oklahoma State, where he quickly became a standout even on a struggling team. In 2025, he recorded 27 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, and 4 sacks—ranking second nationally among freshmen in tackles for loss. His relentless effort earned him Big 12 Defensive Freshman of the Year honors from the coaches.
Gregory's high school career was equally impressive. Playing for a team that went 14-1 and reached the Georgia State Championship Game, he posted 61 tackles, 18 tackles for loss, and 4 sacks as a senior. Over his entire high school career, he amassed 157 tackles, 29.5 tackles for loss, and 12.5 sacks. Interestingly, he started as a wide receiver before switching to linebacker as a sophomore—a move that clearly paid off.
Now, Gregory is heading to Manhattan, Kansas, for the 2026 season, joining a Wildcats squad hungry for defensive playmakers. With three seasons of eligibility remaining, he'll be a key piece under new defensive coordinator Jordan Peterson. For Kansas State fans, Gregory represents more than just a transfer—he's a beacon of intensity and production. For the rest of the Big 12, he's a problem they'll have to solve.
