Former Florida State Seminoles wide receiver Squirrel White has officially hung up his cleats, announcing his retirement from professional football. The Chicago Bears, who signed White as an undrafted free agent following the 2026 NFL Draft, placed him on the reserve/retired list on May 11.

While the exact reasons behind White's decision remain unclear, his collegiate career was marked by persistent injuries, both during his time at FSU and previously with the Tennessee Volunteers. Despite these challenges, White showcased resilience and versatility on the field.

In his final collegiate season with the Seminoles in 2025, White appeared in 10 games, hauling in five receptions for 52 yards while also contributing as a punt returner. His special teams prowess was widely considered his strongest asset for making the Bears' roster. Off the field, his dedication to academics earned him a spot on the All-ACC Academic Team.

Before transferring to Florida State, the Birmingham, Alabama native spent three standout seasons at Tennessee. Across 38 games with the Volunteers, White recorded 131 receptions for 1,665 yards and six touchdowns. He also averaged an impressive 12.9 yards per punt return during his college career, highlighting his explosive playmaking ability.

While his NFL journey was brief, White's impact on the college gridiron—from Knoxville to Tallahassee—leaves a lasting legacy for Seminoles and Volunteers fans alike.
