The Florida Gators' frontcourt just received a massive boost for the 2026-27 campaign. Star forward Alex Condon, a projected first-round NBA draft pick, has decided to return to Gainesville for his senior season, as reported by ESPN's Shams Charania.
This is a huge win for Coach Todd Golden's program. Condon, ranked No. 30 on ESPN's draft board, was widely viewed as a potential early entrant. Instead, he'll return as a cornerstone player and a likely first-round projection for the 2027 draft, immediately establishing himself as one of the top big men in college basketball next season.
Condon's resume speaks for itself. A key contributor to Florida's 2025 national championship run, he has started 70 games over three seasons. His accolades include SEC All-Freshman honors in 2024 and back-to-back Third Team All-SEC selections. This past season, he averaged a career-high 15.1 points per game while pulling down 7.5 rebounds, notching 10 games with 20+ points and eight double-doubles.
His return provides stability and star power as the Gators await decisions from fellow big men Thomas Haugh and Rueben Chinyelu. With starting guard Boogie Fland also returning and the potential addition of Denzel Aberdeen, Florida's roster is shaping up to be a formidable force in the SEC once again.
