Mike LaFleur didn't shut down the possibility of the four-time NFL MVP coming to the desert

Just hours after wide receiver Kendrick Bourne publicly urged the four-time NFL MVP to join the Arizona Cardinals, head coach Mike LaFleur addressed the swirling rumors — and his response left the door wide open.

Bourne, who signed with Arizona in March after a season in San Francisco, sent a direct six-word recruiting pitch to Rodgers on Tuesday. It's a bold move from a nine-year veteran, especially given that the Cardinals already have four quarterbacks on the roster: Jacoby Brissett, Gardner Minshew, Kedon Slovis, and third-round rookie Carson Beck. But Bourne clearly believes Rodgers would be a sizable upgrade — and he's not shy about saying it.

When asked about the speculation on "The Jim Rome Show," LaFleur didn't shut it down. "Honestly, right now, we're focused on the guys that we've got coming in," he said. "We've got the unit that we have — Gardner, Jacoby and Slovis — and then we drafted Carson Beck in the third round. We've got a room we are excited to work with, and that's solely where my focus is."

That's a classic non-answer. LaFleur could have easily said, "We're not looking to add a quarterback," or "Rodgers isn't in our plans." Instead, he sidestepped the question entirely — leaving just enough room for speculation to keep burning.

And here's where it gets even more interesting: The Cardinals just hired Nathaniel Hackett as their new offensive coordinator. Hackett is famously close with Rodgers, having worked with him in Green Bay and followed him to the New York Jets in 2023. That connection alone makes Arizona a logical landing spot if Rodgers wants to keep playing.

At this point in the offseason, the 41-year-old quarterback remains the biggest free agent on the market. He spent last season with the Steelers and could return to Pittsburgh, but the Cardinals — with a new offensive coordinator who knows him well and a locker room that's openly recruiting him — are suddenly a very real possibility.

For now, LaFleur is saying all the right things about his current quarterbacks. But he didn't say no. And in the NFL, that's often as good as a yes.
