Liam Porter was dealing on the mound Thursday, and Brandon Weller provided the offensive firepower as Exeter held off a furious Berks Catholic rally to win 7-5 in the BCIAA baseball quarterfinals at Muhlenberg High School.

Porter scattered just one run over six strong innings, and Weller drove in two runs to stake the Eagles to a comfortable lead. But baseball is a game of momentum, and the Saints reminded everyone why you never take your foot off the gas.

Exeter (15-6) entered the top of the seventh with a commanding 7-1 advantage, but Berks Catholic refused to go quietly. The Saints erupted for four runs, loading the bases with no outs and suddenly turning a rout into a nail-biter. That's when Matt Goodheart stepped up and slammed the door, striking out one batter and allowing just one hit to secure the final three outs and send Exeter into the next round.

The Eagles now advance to Friday's semifinals, where they'll face the winner of Wilson and Kutztown. A victory there would punch their ticket to Monday's championship game at FirstEnergy Field in Reading—a stage every high school ballplayer dreams of. With a mix of solid pitching and timely hitting, Exeter looks ready for the challenge.
