In a dominant display of power and precision, Antonian softball punched their ticket to the TAPPS state tournament with an emphatic 11-1 run-rule victory over Houston St. Pius X in the Division I state quarterfinals Monday.

The Apaches (24-9) brought their bats to life at their home field, racking up 10 hits and showcasing a patient approach that proved decisive against a familiar foe. "We had a plan coming in because we've faced that pitcher for four years now," said Antonian coach Johnny Villanueva, referring to St. Pius X ace Kennedy Flenner. "She's a great pitcher, but we understood what she was trying to accomplish. We stayed off the high stuff and hit the pitches we were looking for."

Senior standout Analicia Guerrero was the star of the show, delivering both at the plate and in the circle. Guerrero went 2-for-3 with four RBIs, including a towering three-run homer that capped a six-run fourth inning explosion. She also tossed a one-hitter with five strikeouts, allowing just one run in a complete-game gem. "I was hoping for a big day, but in my mind all I felt was play my heart out," Guerrero said. "You know where you came and you know who brought you here, and I wanted to finish it that way."

The Apaches wasted no time setting the tone. Trinity Silva contributed three RBIs on two hits, while Alejandra Santoyo drove in two runs, including a solo home run that sparked a four-run third inning. The offensive onslaught was a testament to Antonian's disciplined approach and depth throughout the lineup.

With the win, Antonian advances to the TAPPS state tournament for the fifth consecutive year—a remarkable run of consistency that speaks to the program's culture. "She's been doing that since her freshman year," Villanueva said of Guerrero. "There's a standard here at Antonian, and she lives up to it every day, coming in grinding, putting in the work."

Next up, the Apaches will face the winner between Houston St. Agnes and crosstown rival Incarnate Word in the semifinals Monday at Allan Saxe Field in Arlington. For a team that knows the road to a title, this group is ready to keep swinging.
