Former OU women's basketball guard Zya Vann has committed to Texas from the transfer portal, crossing the Red River.

In a move that adds a new chapter to the storied Red River rivalry, former Oklahoma guard Zya Vann has committed to the University of Texas via the transfer portal. The former Bethany High School standout will trade her Sooner crimson for Texas burnt orange after two seasons in Norman.

Vann made an immediate impact for the Sooners, averaging 8.6 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game. Her decision to enter the portal came shortly after OU's season concluded, marking her as the first player from the program to seek a new opportunity this offseason.

"After a lot of hard conversations, prayer and consideration, I have decided to explore my options and enter the transfer portal," Vann shared on social media. "I am excited for the next chapter and honored for my journey as a Sooner."

The transfer carries a unique family legacy, as Vann's basketball roots are deeply tied to Oklahoma. Her father, Bryatt, played for the Sooners under Billy Tubbs in the early 90s, and her sister, Skylar, recently concluded a five-year career in Norman under coaches Sherri Coale and Jennie Baranczyk.

This high-profile move within the Big 12 Conference is a significant pickup for Texas, adding a proven, versatile guard to their roster as they prepare for future conference battles.
