The Wisconsin Badgers women's hockey team, fresh off a dominant national championship run, showcased their individual brilliance by nearly sweeping the final Hockey Commissioners Association (HCA) monthly awards for the 2025-26 season.
In a fitting capstone to a historic year, three Badgers stars were honored for their March performances. Kelly Gorbatenko was named Player of the Month, Adéla Šapovalivová earned Rookie of the Month, and Ava McNaughton shared the Goalie of the Month award.
Gorbatenko's award was fueled by a relentless offensive surge, including a hat trick against Quinnipiac. She recorded at least one point in every March game, edging out other top contenders to claim the honor.
Šapovalivova continued her stellar freshman campaign by securing the final Rookie of the Month award. Her clutch playmaking was on full display in the national championship game, where she assisted on two of Wisconsin's three goals in their title-clinching victory over Ohio State.
Goaltender Ava McNaughton, named the NCAA Tournament's Most Outstanding Player, rounded out the trio by sharing the Goalie of the Month honor. Her postseason heroics underscored a month where she stood tall among the nation's best netminders.
The only award to elude the Badgers was Defender of the Month, which went to a pair of players from other programs. Nevertheless, Wisconsin's near-sweep of the final monthly honors powerfully underscores the depth of talent that propelled them to a second consecutive national championship.
