The WNBA regular season hasn't even tipped off yet, but Dallas Wings rookie Azzi Fudd is already making headlines—not for her scoring, but for her honest take on the league's officiating. After the Wings' preseason win over the Las Vegas Aces on Sunday, the rookie guard didn't hold back when asked about her adjustment to the professional game.

"Honestly, I feel more confused," Fudd said with a wry smile. "I thought you could be physical in the W, and anytime you touch someone, it's a foul. So I'm not really sure whether to be physical or not. I'm still figuring that out."

Her comments came after a game where she was called for two personal fouls, including one that left her visibly frustrated. Early in the third quarter, Fudd tried to step out of the way of a surging A'ja Wilson, only to be whistled for a foul anyway. It's the kind of call that can make any rookie second-guess their approach on defense.

Fudd's teammates, Aziaha James and Jessica Shepard, couldn't help but laugh during her press conference—partly because they were worried she might get herself in trouble before her rookie season even begins. "Yeah, you're still figuring that out," Shepard joked. "'Cause you may get hit with a fine." She even playfully suggested cutting the press conference feed.

Luckily for Fudd, no fine is coming her way, according to Front Office Sports. But her comments tap into a much larger conversation that has been brewing in the WNBA for years: the balance between physicality and foul calls. For a rookie trying to find her footing, it's a tricky line to walk. And for fans watching at home, it's a reminder that even the game's brightest newcomers are still learning the ropes—sometimes with a little humor and a lot of honesty.
