Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder couldn't hide his pride after his team capped off a challenging season with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Derby County on the final day. Speaking to BBC Radio Sheffield, Wilder reflected on a match that tested his side's resilience from the very first whistle.

"We had to weather a tough start because they came absolutely roaring out of the traps," Wilder admitted, acknowledging Derby's early intensity. "But we got through that period and found our footing. In the second half, we were really good—defended well, broke up their rhythm, and created some excellent chances."

The win was especially meaningful for the traveling supporters, who packed Pride Park to capacity. Wilder made sure his players understood the significance. "I told them: 'These fans have followed you up and down the country through an incredibly difficult season. If any group of supporters deserves this moment, it's them.'"

The Blades' journey under Wilder's return has been one of steady progress. "We wanted to get off the bottom of the table when I came back, and we did that. Then we aimed to climb higher, and we achieved that too. We just stalled a bit and fell short of our ultimate goal, and we have to accept that."

Finishing with 60 points, Sheffield United showed glimpses of the fighting spirit that made them a force in previous campaigns. Wilder is already looking ahead. "I know exactly what we need to do, and we're well on our way. We'll be stronger for this experience, and hopefully, next season we'll be the ones playing in high-stakes matches like Derby did today."
