Allen is the latest Washington Commanders draft choice, having been selected in the sixth round of the 2026 NFL Draft at No. 187 overall. Allen, Penn State's all-time leading rusher, finished his collegiate career with 4,180 rushing yards. He also rushed for 39 touchdowns.

Allen is a big back at 216 pounds at 5'11." He is not flashy, does not possess blazing speed, but does run hard inside.

According to analyst Warren Sharp, Allen was quite capable his senior year at Penn State:

27% of his carries came vs heavy boxes #1 in class still averaged 4.8 YPC vs heavy boxes

only 11% of runs failed to gain yardage #3 best in class

vs light boxes? 7.0 YPC #4 in class #3 best pass protection grade in class

Here is NFL.com's Lance Zierlein's scouting report on Allen:

Allen is productive with good size and vision but below-average explosiveness. He’s a fluid runner with ideal patience and a natural feel for when to cut off his blocks. He runs low to the ground with the strength to run through arm tackles and fall forward after contact. A feel for lane development allows him to fit any run scheme, but his lack of burst is likely to constrict the field and limit his ability to find explosive runs. Allen appears to lack third-down and special-teams value, but he could earn a spot as a solid backup.

The Commanders' next draft choice is also in round six at No. 209 overall.

Earlier Saturday, the Commanders at No. 147 selected Tennessee edge, Joshua Josephs. It seemed the Commanders could very possibly select a center at 147. However, suddenly two centers were taken, as Sam Hecht (Kansas State) and Parker Brailsford (Alabama) were selected at 144 and 146, respectively.
