Get ready, track and football fans—the FHSAA Track & Field State Championships are hitting Jacksonville from May 6-9, and they're bringing some serious gridiron talent with them. More than a dozen athletes from the USA Today Florida Network's top 100 football recruits have punched their tickets to the state meet, making this a must-watch event for anyone who loves speed, power, and athleticism.

Leading the charge is John Carroll Catholic offensive lineman Sean Tatum (No. 14 on the top 100), Lennard safety Mekhi Williams (No. 31), and Indian Rocks Christian edge rusher Anthony Cavallaro (No. 44). Cavallaro, already committed to Florida State, is turning heads in the field events. He won gold in the discus in 2025 and enters this year's state meet as the top seed in Class 1A discus and the second seed in shot put—proof that his strength on the football field translates directly to the track.

But the speedsters are stealing the spotlight, too. Flanagan wide receiver Jacob Thomas (No. 51, committed to Pitt) is the man to beat in Class 4A, holding the top seed in both the 100 meters (10.42 seconds) and 200 meters (20.97 seconds). He's also anchoring Flanagan's 400-meter relay team, which is the No. 1 seed at 40.21 seconds, and the 1,600-meter relay team, seeded second at 3:17.11. Meanwhile, Rickards athlete Davion Crumitie is the No. 1 seed in Class 3A's 100 meters, and Plantation wide receiver Jason Thomas leads Class 3A in the 400 meters.

Don't sleep on the defensive backs, either. Lennard's Mekhi Williams, a Florida State commit, is the No. 18 seed in the 200 meters (22.13 seconds) and a key member of the 400-meter relay team, which is seeded seventh at 41.76 seconds. St. Thomas Aquinas' Richard Reid (No. 82, committed to Pitt) is making waves in the sprints as the No. 17 seed in the 100 meters (10.83 seconds) and No. 8 seed in the 200 meters (21.65 seconds), while also contributing to Aquinas' relay squads. And Largo's Javon Monk (No. 4 seed in the 100 meters at 10.52 seconds) rounds out a deep field of football recruits ready to leave it all on the track.

Whether you're scouting future college stars or just love watching elite athletes compete, the FHSAA state meet is the place to be. And for fans of football and track alike, these recruits prove that the best players don't just dominate on the field—they fly on the track, too.
