Caitlin Clark finally got her first technical foul of the season—and the Indiana Fever star wasn't exactly losing sleep over it.
The moment came late in the first half of Wednesday night's 87-78 win over the Los Angeles Sparks at Crypto.com Arena. Clark was hit with an offensive foul she clearly disagreed with, and she made sure the officials heard about it. After the call, she kept talking as she defended the Sparks' final possession, then capped it off by clapping in a referee's face while walking off the court at halftime.
While Fever head coach Stephanie White had bigger concerns—namely center Aliyah Boston fouling out in just 22 minutes—Clark took a surprisingly lighthearted approach to her technical.
"I deserved my technical," Clark said with a laugh after the game.
The technical foul comes with a $500 fine under the WNBA's new collective bargaining agreement, up from $200 last season. For a player known for her fiery exchanges with officials, it's a small price to pay for keeping that competitive edge.
Clark's reaction shows the kind of self-awareness that makes her a fan favorite—she knows when she's crossed the line, and she's not afraid to own it. For Fever fans, it's just another sign that their superstar guard is playing with the same fire that made her a college legend.
