Villanova transfer guard Acaden Lewis commits to Miami

The Miami Hurricanes have landed a major piece for their backcourt, securing a commitment from former Villanova point guard Acaden Lewis. The four-star transfer announced his move to Coral Gables on Instagram, bringing his dynamic playmaking to a program on the rise.

Lewis, a 6-foot-2 guard, arrives with three years of eligibility and an impressive resume. He is currently ranked as the No. 7 point guard and No. 22 overall player in On3's Transfer Portal rankings, making him one of the most coveted names available. His decision fills a critical void for Miami, which needed an elite floor general after the departure of last season's starter, Tre Donaldson.

The connection runs deep. Miami's second-year head coach, Jai Lucas, was reportedly involved in recruiting Lewis out of high school during his time as an assistant at Duke. That established relationship likely played a key role in steering the talented guard toward the ACC.

Lewis is coming off a stellar freshman campaign at Villanova, where he was a unanimous Big East All-Freshman Team selection and a second-team all-conference honoree. He rewrote the Wildcats' record books, setting new freshman marks for assists (176) and steals (63) while averaging 12.2 points, 5.3 assists, and 1.9 steals per game.

A former Kentucky commit and a top-35 national recruit out of Sidwell Friends High School in Washington D.C., Lewis brings proven production and high-level pedigree. His commitment is a significant win for Coach Lucas, who led the Hurricanes to a remarkable 26-9 turnaround season last year. With Lewis running the show, Miami's high-octane offense looks poised for another exciting chapter.
