USC men’s basketball acquired Colgate guard Jalen Cox from the transfer portal on Wednesday.

Cox announced his commitment on social media by posting a picture of him in a USC jersey and the caption, “THE PLACE TO BE.”

Colgate transfer guard Jalen Cox has committed to USC, per his Instagram. Cox, who went to Loyola High, scored 17.9 points per game with 5.5 rebounds and 5.2 assists last season. He gives USC an experienced option off the bench at point guard pic.twitter.com/HdHl3DLnvJ

Cox has one year of NCAA eligibility remaining and joins Georgetown transfer guard KJ Lewis and UConn transfer center Eric Reibe as the Trojans’ third transfer commitment of the offseason.

Cox, Lewis and returning guard Rodney Rice are expected to make up the Trojans’ backcourt next season.

Cox played the first three seasons of his career at Colgate and developed into one of the best players in the Patriot League. Last season, he led the league in assists per game (5.3) and ranked third with an average of 17.9 points per game.

The 6-foot-3 guard earned All-Patriot League First Team and All-Defensive Team honors during the 2025-26 season. He was also named an All-Patriot League Third Team and All-Defensive Team selection in the season prior as a sophomore.

By committing to USC, Cox will be returning to his hometown of Los Angeles.

Cox attended Loyola High School, where he played basketball and competed in track and field. He averaged 20 points per game during high school and earned All-Mission League First Team honors.

After gradating from Loyola, Cox spent one year at a college-preparatory school called South Kent School in Connecticut. He was an All-NEPSAC Honorable Mention, South Kent’s Offensive Player of the Year, and he helped the team win the NEPSAC AAA Championship in 2023.
