The pressure is mounting at Bayer Leverkusen, and it looks like the end of the road is near for head coach Kasper Hjulmand. With just Saturday's final Bundesliga match remaining in the season, the club is bracing for a disappointing finish—falling short of their Champions League qualification target. As a result, Hjulmand is widely expected to be shown the door, making way for fresh leadership at the BayArena.

According to Sky Germany, Leverkusen's front office isn't wasting any time. CEO Fernando Carro and sporting director Simon Rolfes are already scanning the market for Hjulmand's successor, and two intriguing names have surfaced as top candidates.

First up is Filipe Luís, the former Brazil international who made a name for himself as a manager in South America. At just 39 years old, he led Flamengo to a stunning domestic league title and a Copa Libertadores triumph—no small feat in Brazilian football. Though he was let go in March, his tactical acumen and winning pedigree have clearly caught the eye of Leverkusen's decision-makers, who hold him in high regard.

The second option is Michel, the mastermind behind Girona's impressive rise in La Liga. Known for his attacking philosophy and ability to maximize talent, Michel is expected to part ways with the Spanish side this summer, making him a hot commodity on the coaching market.

For now, Hjulmand remains in charge—he took over just a few games into the season and is under contract until 2027—but the writing is on the wall. Saturday's finale could be his last dance, and Leverkusen is already plotting their next move to get back on track.
