The Florida State Seminoles are making a strong push to bolster their defensive line depth, and they recently hosted transfer defensive lineman Devarrick Woods for a visit that left a lasting impression. Woods, who is also being courted by the Florida Gators, visited Tallahassee this week and came away impressed with what the Seminoles had to offer.

"It was great," Woods said of the visit. "I loved the people. Great environment."

Woods brings a solid track record to the table. Last season at Texas State, he appeared in 11 games, recording 16 tackles, 2.0 tackles for loss, 1.0 sack, and a quarterback hurry over 177 snaps. Before that, he spent two years at Hinds Community College, where he made 66 tackles, 13.5 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, and three pass breakups in 18 games. Originally set to run out of eligibility, the NCAA recently granted him an extra season, and he knows exactly what he's looking for in his final year of college football.

"Just a great environment around coaches that help me to develop to play on the next level," Woods said.

A native of Bossier City, Louisiana, Woods was part of the 2021 recruiting class and began his career as an unranked prospect at Hinds Community College. When he signed with Texas State, he was rated as a three-star prospect and ranked No. 89 overall and No. 19 among defensive linemen in the JUCO rankings by 247Sports. He hasn't received a new ranking this offseason.

Interestingly, FSU already signed Woods' Texas State teammate, Jordan Sanders, earlier in the offseason. While Woods may not be projected as an immediate starter, he would add valuable experience and depth to a Seminoles defensive line room that remains largely unproven. If FSU can land him, it would be a significant step toward solidifying their front seven for the upcoming season.
