The Houston Comets are officially making a comeback to the WNBA in 2027, and the city is already gearing up to welcome them in style. As part of the ambitious "Toyota Center Reimagined" project, the team will benefit from a complete overhaul of their training and locker room facilities—ensuring they hit the ground running when they relocate from Connecticut after the 2026 season.

This isn't just a new home; it's a whole new level of preparation. The Comets will have access to expanded and modernized practice courts, elite medical and recovery spaces, and top-tier nutrition resources, all designed to create a world-class player experience. Think of it as a performance hub built for champions, with locker rooms and training areas that rival the best in the league.

Gretchen Sheirr, president of business operations for both the Rockets and Comets, made it clear that the work is starting immediately. "As soon as everyone leaves here today, walls are coming down and construction will start," she announced at Thursday's introductory press conference. "The permits are filed, and we're going to start really soon so that when their season is over and they start to move here in the offseason, these facilities will be ready."

This renovation marks a significant shift for the Toyota Center, which previously housed the Rockets' practice facilities before the NBA team moved to a new complex on Houston's West Loop in late 2024. Now, the space is being reimagined exclusively for the Comets, with renderings already released in a team video that promises a "heroic, elite, and timeless" new era.

While financial terms remain undisclosed, the entire project is being backed by Ti, the same ownership group driving the broader Toyota Center upgrades. For fans and players alike, this signals a serious commitment to bringing the Comets back to prominence—and making Houston a destination for top-tier women's basketball talent.
