Toto Wolff has warned Mercedes not to get carried away with Kimi Antonelli’s early-season success after the teenager claimed his third consecutive win at the Miami GP

Mercedes Formula 1 boss Toto Wolff is urging caution despite Kimi Antonelli's stunning start to the season. The 19-year-old phenom made it three wins in a row at the Miami Grand Prix, converting pole position into victory just as he did in China and Japan. But Wolff isn't ready to crown the teenager just yet.

Antonelli now leads Mercedes teammate George Russell by 20 points in the drivers' championship after taking the top spot in Japan. It's a dream run for the young Italian, who's quickly becoming the talk of the paddock. But Wolff knows how quickly momentum can shift in Formula 1.

"Yeah, I hope he can continue on this positive slope. Most important is not to be carried away," Wolff told Sky Sports F1 after the race. "We have a good car. Hopefully the upgrades work next race."

Wolff was quick to point out that Russell remains a fierce competitor, even if the weekend didn't go his way. "But he has a fierce competitor in his team-mate also, who wasn't happy with the track this weekend. So just important to keep both feet on the ground," he added.

While most teams rolled out upgrades in Miami, Mercedes—already dominating the early season—is saving its next big package for the Canadian Grand Prix on May 24. Wolff acknowledged that the development race is far from over, with budget cap limitations and the challenge of making upgrades work in the real world.

"Well, sometimes upgrades don't correlate with the stopwatch. So we need to prove that out. I hope we can," Wolff said. "And this is going to be a development race this season. How much can you bring? Are you limited by the cost cap? All of these things will play a role."

For now, Antonelli is soaking it all in—but not for long. His Miami win made him the first driver ever to convert his first three pole positions into victories. "This is just the beginning. The road is still long. We are working super hard and the team is doing an incredible job," Antonelli said before the podium celebrations. "Without them, I wouldn't be here, so thanks to them and my family. I'm going to enjoy this one then get back to work."
