Texas A&M head coach Bucky McMillan is wasting no time in the transfer portal this offseason, and his latest target is a big one. The Aggies are reportedly in pursuit of VCU star transfer guard Terrence Hill Jr., looking to add a proven scorer to a roster undergoing significant change.
McMillan’s first season in College Station was a success, guiding a transfer-heavy squad to the NCAA Tournament. However, with key veterans like leading scorer Rashaun Agee and guard Rylan Griffen moving on, and guards Josh Holloway and Ruben Dominguez entering the portal, rebuilding the backcourt is a top priority.
Enter Terrence Hill Jr. The sophomore guard is coming off a standout season where he led VCU in both scoring (15 points per game) and assists (2.8 per game), capped by a first-round NCAA Tournament victory. An efficient shooter at nearly 47% from the field and 37% from three-point range, Hill’s profile seems tailor-made for McMillan’s fast-paced, perimeter-oriented offensive system.
While Texas A&M will face stiff competition from other Power Four programs for Hill’s services, the opportunity to be a primary scoring option in the SEC could be a major draw. Securing a commitment from a guard of Hill’s caliber would be a major coup for McMillan as he constructs his second Aggies roster, signaling that the program intends to remain a force in a competitive conference.
