A major, major get.

The Tennessee Volunteers are making it crystal clear: they're done with heartbreak. After three consecutive Elite Eight exits in the NCAA Tournament, Rick Barnes and his staff are reloading with purpose—and the latest addition to their revamped roster could be the game-changer they've been searching for.

Tennessee has been among the most aggressive teams in the transfer portal this offseason, and the momentum has been building for weeks. Before today's headline-grabbing commitment, the Vols had already secured a haul that included Jalen Haralson, Miles Rubin, Dai Dai Ames, Braeden Lue, Terrence Hill Jr., and Tyler Lundblade. Haralson and Rubin were two of the most coveted big men available, while Ames and Lundblade bring scoring punch on the wing. Hill is expected to step into the point guard role and orchestrate the offense.

But the crown jewel of this portal class just landed. Juke Harris, a 6-foot-7, 200-pound guard from Salisbury, North Carolina, has officially committed to Tennessee over finalists Michigan and North Carolina. Harris, who starred for Wake Forest in 2025-26, averaged an eye-popping 21.4 points and 6.5 rebounds per game as a sophomore. He shot 44.4% from the field and showcased the kind of two-way versatility that makes him a nightmare matchup on the perimeter.

Harris was widely regarded as one of the top wings available in the transfer portal. His recruitment heated up last week when On3's Pete Nakos reported "growing confidence" that the guard would land in Knoxville. That confidence turned into reality on Monday morning when Harris withdrew his name from the NBA Draft—where he had been projected as an early second-round pick—and committed to the Vols.

Rick Barnes has put the cherry on top of a stellar transfer portal cycle, and the message is loud and clear: Tennessee is spending big and building for a deep run. Despite returning just two players from last year's roster, the Vols are poised to be a top-five team next season, a legitimate threat to win the SEC, and—finally—a contender to break through that elusive Final Four barrier.
