Matt Payne didn't just win at Ruapuna Park; he dominated. The young Grove Racing star capped off a perfect weekend for Ford by storming to his second victory, securing a clean sweep of all four Supercars races on New Zealand's South Island. This commanding performance, starting from pole position, was a masterclass in speed and strategy.

Payne's victory was never in doubt after a strong start, and he expertly managed the race despite an early safety car. The real celebration, however, was for his team. Grove Racing executed a brilliant strategy to bring rookie teammate Kai Allen through the field to second place, securing the team's historic first-ever 1-2 finish—a monumental achievement they'll surely celebrate all the way back to their Melbourne base.

"We knew we had a good car today," said a jubilant Payne. "That was a perfect race for us. We executed, fought hard, and gave it our best shot." Allen, equally thrilled, acknowledged his teammate's blistering pace: "Matty was in another league. I'm pumped for the team, but I just have to work out how to be as fast as him!"

While the Grove Fords were untouchable, the battle for the final podium spot was fiercely contested. Triple Eight Race Engineering's Broc Feeney managed to overtake teammate Will Brown to claim third, a crucial haul of points that propelled him into the championship lead and earned him the prestigious Jason Richards Trophy. Feeney described a chaotic race, completing it mostly without radio communication: "That was a roller coaster... I was trying to do the maths in my head!"

The drama wasn't over until the checkered flag. A fierce last-lap duel for fourth between Chaz Mostert and Brodie Kostecki ended in contact, a thrilling but costly reminder of the fine margins in top-level motorsport. Payne's flawless weekend, however, stands as the defining story—a statement win that cements his status as a rising force and delivers a massive result for the entire Ford contingent.
