The Pittsburgh Steelers kicked off their 2026 draft class signings on Friday, locking in three of their 10 selections as the team begins to shape its future roster.

Fourth-round wide receiver Kaden Wetjen, sixth-round offensive tackle Gabriel Rubio, and seventh-round safety Robert Spears-Jennings all put pen to paper, becoming the first of the Steelers' draft picks to officially join the organization.

Wetjen, selected 121st overall out of Iowa, brings a dynamic special teams presence to Pittsburgh. While his receiving stats—23 catches for 197 yards and one touchdown over three seasons—may not jump off the page, his return game is electric. He amassed 954 punt return yards at an impressive 17.7-yard average, scoring four touchdowns, and added 1,538 kickoff return yards (27.5-yard average) with two more scores. The Steelers clearly see him as a game-changer in the return game.

Rubio, taken 210th overall from Notre Dame, adds depth to the offensive line. He appeared in six games in 2025, starting five before a season-ending injury. Over his college career, the tackle played in 39 games for the Fighting Irish, starting eight, and recorded 66 tackles (27 solo).

Spears-Jennings, the 224th overall pick out of Oklahoma, brings a hard-hitting mentality to the secondary. He started 12 of 13 games in 2025 and finished his college career with 178 tackles (101 solo), eight tackles for loss, and two interceptions across 47 games.

Still unsigned are the team's top picks: first-round offensive tackle Max Iheanachor, second-round wide receiver Germie Bernard, third-round quarterback Drew Allar, third-round cornerback Daylen Everette, third-round offensive tackle Gennings Dunker, fifth-round tight end Riley Nowakowski, and seventh-round running back Eli Heidenreich. As training camp approaches, expect more signings to follow—and with them, plenty of new Steelers gear to celebrate the next generation of black and gold.
