Big news for Nebraska basketball fans: the Huskers have officially added some serious size to their roster. South Dakota State transfer Damon Wilkinson, a 6-foot-10, 245-pound center, has signed with the program, bringing his powerful presence to Lincoln.
Wilkinson, who committed to Nebraska back in April, arrives after three standout seasons with the Jackrabbits. He's not the only big man joining the team through the transfer portal—he'll be paired with 6-foot-11, 255-pound Boston College transfer Boden Kapke, giving the Huskers a formidable frontcourt duo.
Last season, Wilkinson was a force for South Dakota State, playing in all 32 games and averaging 13.9 points per game on an impressive 59% shooting. He led the Jackrabbits in rebounds (6.4 per game) and blocked shots (0.8 per game), earning honorable-mention All-Summit League honors in 2026. His stats placed him among the conference's elite: second in field goal percentage, fourth in rebounding, sixth in blocked shots, and 10th in free throw percentage (.720).
When conference play rolled around, Wilkinson elevated his game even further, averaging 15.5 points on 59% shooting, along with 6.9 rebounds and 1.0 blocks per game. He scored double-digit points in 27 games, with a career-high 24 points in two separate contests—both against Omaha. In his first matchup with the Mavericks, he also pulled down a career-best 19 rebounds, part of three double-doubles he recorded in 2025-26.
Hailing from De Smet, South Dakota, Wilkinson brings a blend of strength, skill, and consistency that should make an immediate impact for the Huskers. Whether you're a die-hard Nebraska fan or just love following the transfer portal action, this is a signing that promises to add some serious muscle to the paint.
