The Oklahoma Sooners are building something special with their 2027 recruiting class, currently ranked as the best in the nation. Leading the charge is four-star running back Keldrid Ben, one of the earliest and most talented commits in the group. While fans might raise an eyebrow at news that Ben is still taking visits to other programs, there's no need to hit the panic button just yet.
Ben has been locked in with Oklahoma for a long time, and the feeling is mutual. The Sooners coaching staff loves what he brings to the table, and Ben has made it clear that Norman feels like home. Still, as a top prospect, he's drawing heavy interest from other schools—including Florida and Oregon—and he's decided to take a few official visits to explore his options. It's a move that might make some fans uneasy, but Ben is handling it with transparency and maturity.
"[Things have] been great. God has been blessing me in many ways," Ben told Sooner Scoop. "I'm just trying to keep my head on my shoulders, keep my head straight, maintain my grades, and just work. [The visits] are just me taking another look at a school. I don't see it as me decommitting or anything like that. I see it as me exploring other schools and taking those visits because I only get one chance."
Since late November 2025, Ben has taken six visits total—three to Oklahoma, two to Florida, and one to Oregon. He has another trip to Florida scheduled in the coming months. But rather than letting speculation run wild, Ben is keeping the lines of communication open with Sooners fans. "I just let them know what's going on. No lies, no nothing. Just a man-to-man conversation," he said. "They tell me how they can make me a better man on and off the field. Providing for my family and me and being the best I can be at all times."
For Oklahoma fans, Ben's message is clear: he knows where home is, and these visits are about due diligence, not doubt. With the Sooners already boasting the top 2027 class and potentially adding three or four more commits in the coming months, the future in Norman is looking brighter than ever.
