Adam Scott is proving that age is just a number, as the 45-year-old continues to compete at the highest level on the PGA Tour. While fellow veteran Justin Rose often grabs the headlines for his remarkable performances—winning on tour and contending in majors—Scott's consistent excellence has quietly flown under the radar.
Since turning 40, Scott has never posted fewer than five top-20 finishes in a single season. And in 2026, he's already off to a blazing start with three top-five finishes, including a T4 at the Cadillac Championship at Doral. That kind of form has fans wondering: can the 2013 Masters champion add another major to his resume before hanging up his spikes?
Golf analyst Smylie Kaufman certainly thinks so. Fresh off Scott's impressive showing at Doral, Kaufman couldn't help but praise the Aussie, calling him a "fine wine" that only gets better with age.
Speaking on The Smylie Show, Kaufman shared his bold prediction: "This guy, we always say, ages like a fine wine. Nothing truer than with that gentleman, Adam Scott. He just continues to be able to compete at 45 years old, has all the pop in the bat—can get 190 comfortably on the range, which is just insane. I don't think he's done winning. I think he's going to have a swan song. He's going to win one more major championship. I think he's totally capable of doing it."
Kaufman pointed to Scott's strong 2026 campaign, which already includes a pair of top-three finishes, as evidence that the former world No. 1 still has the game to contend on golf's biggest stages. "He got off to a poor start and played some tremendous golf the rest of the way," Kaufman noted.
However, it's worth noting that Scott's major championship record in recent years has been mixed. Since 2020, he's managed just one top-10 finish in a major—a T10 at the 2024 Open Championship at Royal Troon, where he finished eight strokes behind winner Xander Schauffele. Over that same stretch, Scott has missed the cut six times, including at last year's Masters and Open Championship. His best major result in 2025 was a T12 at the US Open.
Still, with his consistent ball-striking and wealth of experience, Scott remains a dangerous competitor. Whether he can channel that into one more magical week at a major remains to be seen—but Kaufman, for one, isn't betting against the Aussie legend.
