The Oklahoma City Thunder are soaring, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander just added a legendary notch to his belt. After sweeping the Los Angeles Lakers in a dominant Round 2 series, SGA took a moment to tip his cap to the King himself, LeBron James.
The reigning NBA champions made quick work of the Lakers, closing out the series with a 115-110 Game 4 victory. From the opening tip, it was clear the Thunder were in a different league. With Luka Dončić sidelined by injury, the Lakers' hopes dimmed, but LeBron refused to go quietly. At 41 years old, he battled against a younger, faster OKC squad, but the talent gap was simply too wide to overcome.
"It was fun. It's amazing what he's doing out there at his age," Gilgeous-Alexander said of James. "He doesn't seem like it out there. He was a force. He was at the top of the scouting report all series. His size gave us issues at times. I'm not sure we'll see anything like it again—his longevity and his greatness. It was super fun. Glad I got to get four wins, for sure."
It's a classy moment from one superstar to another. LeBron once sat on the NBA throne longer than anyone, but now it's Oklahoma City's turn to dominate the league. For SGA, this series win is another milestone on a path that's quickly joining the ranks of all-time greats like Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, and Stephen Curry. With each playoff victory, he's building a Hall-of-Fame resume—and doing it in style.
