After not drafting any edge rushers in 2026, the Seattle Seahawks are expected to sign two undrafted free agents this week, according to a team source.
Per a team source, the #Seahawks had draftable grades on edge rushers Aidan Hubbard and Marvin Jones Jr., who are expected to sign as undrafted free agents. Both players were in play when they picked three times in seventh round. Not drafting an EDGE made Seattle more appealing.
Having draftable grades on two UDFAs they landed at the position makes a lot of sense about their strategy not to use draft capital on them. This was a deep class at the position, with 20-25 hearing their name called based on how you classify certain prospects, meaning there were surely some possibly valuable players slipping out of the seven rounds entirely. With the differences in each team’s board, several that were thought to have Round 4-5 grades by some ended up completely undrafted.
As for the actual players, Aidan Hubbard meets several prerequisites and signals head coach Mike Macdonald’s traditional type. At 6’4 4/8”, 260 with 32-inch arms, he’s got a plenty big frame to work with, even if his testing and play strength could use a little more development on it. He produced 7.5 sacks in 2025 at Northwestern due to good agility, especially impressive at his size. He’s not the speed rusher I or others thought was needed to replace Boye Mafe, but the other name looks to fit that role.
Aidan Hubbard is a DE prospect in the 2026 draft class. He scored a 8.77 RAS out of a possible 10.00. This ranked 279 out of 2257 DE from 1987 to 2026.https://t.co/isuUyJg94d pic.twitter.com/vMlpYT29Yl
Marvin Jones Jr. fits the mold of the speed rusher archetype without sacrificing the size. He carries the traits of a typical Oklahoma edge- 75th-87th percentile speed testing and an 80th percentile vertical jump- which is especially ironic, considering their other edge, R Mason Thomas, was seen by myself and others as an ideal replacement for Mafe. The Seahawks’ must’ve preferred Jones’ 6’5” frame when factoring in the cost, which Thomas’ lacked, and decided to take a chance on the high-ceiling player rather than paying for immediate production.
Two great signs are that Jones comes from NFL Bloodlines, and was a five-star recruit out of high school. He was the No. 2 edge rusher in the country in 2022 and still has all that potential, but just didn’t live up to it during his college career. It’s easy to see why the Seahawks’ coaching and personnel staff think he can be a better pro player than he was in college.
Marvin Jones Jr. is a DE prospect in the 2026 draft class. He scored a 8.14 RAS out of a possible 10.00. This ranked 386 out of 2074 DE from 1987 to 2026.https://t.co/7YsimuEeEl pic.twitter.com/FAtUJmmog0
In Hubbard and Jones, the Seahawks found their type of edge rushers without spending any draft capital. This might be the only time all year Seattle didn't chase edges, but let them fall to them.
