The Tupelo Golden Wave baseball program is making a change at the helm. After a disappointing first-round exit in the Class 7A playoffs, the school has decided to move on from head coach Scott Gann following two seasons at the helm, multiple sources have confirmed.
Gann posted a 39-25 record during his tenure with the Golden Wave. His first season showed promise, as the team advanced to the North half finals, giving fans plenty of reasons to be optimistic. However, this year's campaign came to an abrupt end, with Tupelo falling to Starkville in a hard-fought three-game series in the opening round of the playoffs.
Before taking over at Tupelo, Gann built an impressive resume at Houston High School, where he compiled a stellar 187-75-2 record and led the team to a state championship in 2016. That kind of success made his arrival in Tupelo a highly anticipated move, but ultimately, the results in the postseason weren't enough to secure his position for the long haul.
Neither Gann nor Tupelo athletics director Jason Miller have returned requests for comment, leaving the search for the next leader of the Golden Wave baseball program as the next big question for the school's athletic department.
