Head coach Eddie Howe says Newcastle's owners remain "ambitious" for the club despite the Saudi Arabian PIF's decision to pull out of funding LIV Golf.

Newcastle United's Saudi Arabian owners have made their intentions crystal clear: the ambition to conquer the Premier League remains as strong as ever.

Head coach Eddie Howe revealed this week that after meeting with the club's hierarchy—including chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan, governor of Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF), and minority owner Jamie Reuben—the message was unwavering. Despite the PIF's decision to withdraw its multi-billion dollar backing of LIV Golf at the end of the season, senior figures at Newcastle were reassured weeks ago that this move would not impact the club's trajectory.

"The desire is unchanged," Howe stated. "It's to try and get to the top of the Premier League, to try and consistently win as many trophies as possible. I don't think that will change while the PIF are our owners. They are very ambitious for the football club."

Currently sitting 14th in the Premier League table, Newcastle's long-term vision is anything but modest. The owners have set their sights on achieving elite status by 2030, but Howe acknowledged that building the necessary infrastructure will take time. A major capital investment is on the horizon, with an announcement expected soon regarding a new state-of-the-art training ground—a clear signal of the owners' commitment.

Discussions this week have also centered on the future of St James' Park. The club is weighing whether to expand the iconic stadium or build an entirely new ground, a move designed to turbocharge revenue streams and close the massive financial gap with the league's highest-earning clubs.

"They clearly care so much about the football club, given the long-term planning that's going on," Howe said of the PIF, which acquired an initial 80% stake in 2021 and has since increased its share. "Very exciting times ahead for the club, regardless of what happens short-term. The long-term vision is clearly there."

For Newcastle fans, this week's summit at Matfen Hall in Northumberland wasn't just a routine gathering—it was a reaffirmation that the Magpies' ambitious owners are in it for the long haul, ready to build a dynasty from the ground up.
