The summer transfer window is heating up, and Manchester United are reportedly ready to dive into one of the most intriguing midfield battles of the season. According to GiveMeSport, the Red Devils are set to open talks with Nottingham Forest over England international Elliot Anderson—a move that could define their midfield rebuild.

For United, this isn't just about signing a trendy name. Anderson represents a clear direction: legs, intelligence, composure, and Premier League readiness. In a squad that has often lacked athleticism and control in the middle of the park, the 21-year-old ticks boxes that have been left blank for too long at Old Trafford. Now an England international and one of Forest's most prized assets, Anderson is exactly the kind of dynamic presence United need to inject purpose into their engine room.

Timing is everything in football, and the report suggests United are moving at the perfect moment. With Nottingham Forest securing Premier League safety and exiting European competition, the Midlands club now has the clarity needed to entertain serious offers. Until now, there was little incentive for owner Evangelos Marinakis to discuss a potential sale.

Journalist Ben Jacobs provided insight into United's strategy, telling GiveMeSport: "Manchester United are going to move quite quickly on at least two midfielders because Manuel Ugarte could be sold, Casemiro is leaving, and the top priority still remains Elliot Anderson." He added that the club will now begin to "find out the price," noting that the timing has shifted in United's favor now that Forest's season is resolved.

Jacobs also highlighted the variable nature of Anderson's valuation. "The potential price has always been extreme because it's been variable," he explained. "Earlier in the season, it looked like Forest could go down, which would have put suitors in a stronger position. Now we're somewhere in the middle—Forest haven't reached the Europa League final or secured Champions League football, but they are a solid Premier League club."

With Casemiro's departure looming and Ugarte's future uncertain, United's midfield needs a fresh identity. Anderson could be the cornerstone of that transformation—bringing youthful energy, technical quality, and a hunger to prove himself on the biggest stage. As the summer window unfolds, all eyes will be on Old Trafford to see if they can land their top target.
