Mere hours before the 2026 NFL Draft, yet another link connected the Los Angeles Rams to Ty Simpson, the Alabama quarterback. Ian Rapoport shared on NFL Network that when Simpson was deciding whether to declare for the draft, his father consulted with people around the league, including Rams GM Les Snead.
According to Rapoport, Snead told him that Simpson is a first-round prospect, showing how highly the Rams GM thinks of the Crimson Tide signal caller.
“When Ty Simpson was trying to decide whether or not he should come out of Alabama and enter the draft, his father consulted with, among other people, Les Snead, the GM of the Rams, who told him Ty was, in fact, a first-rounder," Rapoport said. "Could the Rams, maybe in a trade-back situation, be looking at Simpson? We shall see.”

The Rams hold the 13th overall pick and while Todd McShay projected them to take Simpson at that spot in his fifth mock draft, that's much earlier than many expect him to go. Hence, Rapoport speculating about the Rams trading back and trying to get him later on.
The Jets pick 16th overall, which is another prime landing spot for Simpson, so the Rams may not be able to trade back too far if they want him.
