Report: Kentucky forward Andrija Jelavić entering NCAA Transfer Portal

Kentucky's frontcourt is set for a shakeup, as sophomore forward Andrija Jelavić has entered the NCAA Transfer Portal after one season in Lexington, according to a report from DraftExpress’ Jonathan Givony.

The 6-foot-11 Croatian, who was one of Mark Pope's key international additions last offseason, is now on the market with two years of eligibility remaining. Jelavić appeared in 32 games for the Wildcats, starting 20, and posted averages of 5.5 points and 4.0 rebounds per contest.

His journey to Kentucky was a unique one. Jelavić committed to Pope without speaking to any other college coaches, telling KSR last offseason, "Mark Pope was the first and only coach I spoke to about that." However, his transition faced hurdles; after signing in April, he didn't arrive on campus until August and wasn't cleared by the NCAA until October due to academic reviews.

Once on the floor, Jelavić showed flashes of the potential that made him a standout in Serbia's Adriatic League, where he averaged 11.0 points and 7.4 rebounds the prior season. His role fluctuated in a guard-heavy Kentucky rotation, especially after an injury to five-star center Jayden Quaintance altered the team's frontcourt plans.

For a player with his size and international experience, this move represents a critical opportunity to find a system where he can maximize his development and on-court impact. Jelavić's next destination will be one to watch as the transfer portal continues to reshape college basketball rosters.
