At 40 years old, most strikers are enjoying retirement, but Edin Džeko is still writing his own fairy tale. Since joining Schalke 04 on a free transfer from Fiorentina in January, the veteran forward has been nothing short of sensational—scoring six goals and dishing out three assists in just 10 appearances to help propel the Gelsenkirchen club back into the Bundesliga. It's a story that feels destined for a Hollywood script, but the next chapter remains unwritten.

With his contract expiring this summer, the former Manchester City and Roma star faces a career crossroads. Will he hang up his boots after leading Bosnia & Herzegovina at the World Cup? Will he run it back with Schalke for one more season in Germany's top flight? Or could a new challenge await elsewhere? Speaking at a media roundtable on Friday, Džeko didn't hide the weight of the decision.

"I'm thinking about my future every day," Džeko admitted. "Let's see if I'm going to play in the Bundesliga next year. It's amazing for Schalke to be back where they belong. That's what I said when I arrived here too. I have to talk to Schalke about their plans first, and then we'll decide."

The Bosnian sharpshooter had other suitors in January—Paris FC came calling—but he chose the Royal Blues. And he hasn't regretted a single moment. "This is a great club with great fans. I can already see so much love for me; that's why I'm even more happy that I made the decision to come here," Džeko reflected. "Everything that has happened in the last four months has been even better than expected."

That red-hot form didn't just benefit Schalke. It carried over to the international stage, where Džeko helped Bosnia shock Wales and Italy in the World Cup play-offs in March, punching their ticket to this summer's tournament in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. At an age when most players are winding down, Džeko is proving that class—and a well-chosen kit—truly is timeless. Whether he's wearing Schalke blue or Bosnia's national colors, one thing is clear: the legend isn't done yet.
