Celtic supporters have a powerful new voice at the table, as club legend Paul McStay is set to front a major fan-led initiative. Businessman and former Celtic director Willie Haughey exclusively revealed on GO Radio that the iconic former captain will be the ambassador for the newly formed 'Season Ticket Alliance'.
The alliance, first proposed in February, is designed to amplify the influence of the Celtic support at the highest levels of the club. The model is built on collective investment, with Haughey pledging a significant personal contribution: £2 million for every 10,000 season ticket holders who join, up to a potential £10 million.
Haughey confirmed the project is ready for launch, stating, "The thing will go live on April 17 when people can apply." He emphasized the alliance's goal to create a formal "conduit for discussions with the board," offering season ticket holders a unified and impactful channel to help shape the club's future.
Having a figure of Paul McStay's stature at the helm brings immense credibility. Known as "The Maestro" during his playing days, McStay's deep connection to the club and its community makes him the perfect representative to bridge the gap between the stands and the boardroom, ensuring the supporters' passion is directly heard.
