Patriots quarterback Drake Maye has finally spoken out about the photo scandal involving his head coach, Mike Vrabel, and sportswriter Dianna Russini—and he's making it clear where his loyalty stands.

"We're here for Coach, we love Coach," Maye, 23, told WHDH-TV 7News in Boston. "What he does for us, what he's done for us this past year, you can't speak into words. Thankful he's our head coach."

Maye added, "Know he's dealing with some off the field and out of the coaching world, but we're here for him and I know he's gonna come back."

The quarterback's supportive comments come just days after Vrabel was spotted in Utah on Saturday, April 25—which also happened to be Day 3 of the 2026 NFL Draft. While the Patriots were busy selecting six new players, Vrabel was seen buying a sweatshirt from a women's boutique at Salt Lake City International Airport. The team later confirmed to MassLive that they had not been in touch with Vrabel over the weekend.

The controversy stems from a series of photos showing the 50-year-old coach getting cozy with Russini, 43, a former senior NFL insider at The Athletic. Vrabel has since told reporters he plans to seek "counseling" to handle the fallout. Adding another layer to the story, Vrabel's wife of 27 years was seen at the same boutique in Utah just days later, ahead of a flight out of the state.

For Maye, the bond with Vrabel runs deep. The quarterback finished as a finalist for NFL MVP in his second season and led the Patriots to a Super Bowl berth—a run he credits largely to his coach. After the Patriots' 29-13 loss to the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl LX this February, a visibly emotional Maye said, "He was the heartbeat, no doubt about that. He was a big reason why we're here. He's always the same and I look forward to my relationship with him for a long time."

Maye added simply, "He's a great person and a hell of a coach."
