According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Green Bay Packers have extended slot receiver Jayden Reed to a three-year deal worth $50.25 million in new money and $20 million in guarantees. This comes off an offseason where the Packers allowed Romeo Doubs to hit the open market and sign with the New England Patriots in free agency, plus Green Bay sent away Dontayvion Wicks’ expiring contract to the Philadelphia Eagles in a trade.
For what it’s worth, Doubs signed for $17 million per year, while Wicks got a one-year, $12.5 million extension. Reed will make just under Doubs at $16.75 million, good for the 29th average per year number at the position. This puts Reed in the mid-WR2 to high-WR3 range, which makes sense considering he’s the team’s primary slot receiver.
Moving forward, the team will likely roll out with Christian Watson and 2025 first-round pick Matthew Golden outside and Reed in the slot. Savion Williams, a top-100 pick in 2025, free agent signing Skyy Moore and “cornerback” Bo Melton are the primary backups behind that trio. Watson is looking to get a deal done this offseason, too, but he’s not holding out of camp, based on his reporting for the first phase of OTAs earlier this week. Watson will likely make around $28 million per year on his next extension, based on the number that Alec Pierce, a proxy for Watson on the market, signed for.
Reed has recorded 138 receptions for 1,857 yards and 15 touchdowns through the air, along with 34 carries for 310 yards and three touchdowns on the ground, since going 50th overall in the 2023 draft. After missing just one game in his first two years with the team, he was only able to play in seven games in 2025 because of a broken collarbone and a foot injury.
