Liverpool's summer transfer window just got a lot more interesting. While all eyes have been on Bradley Barcola, it appears the Reds are setting their sights on another Paris Saint-Germain star—this time between the posts.
The possibility of Alisson Becker leaving Anfield is suddenly looking very real. The 33-year-old Brazilian shot-stopper only signed a fresh contract extension weeks ago, tying him to the club until 2027. But persistent transfer rumors linking him to Juventus refuse to fade away.
The Italian giants are reportedly determined to land the Brazil No. 1, especially with former Roma boss Luciano Spalletti now at the helm. Juventus is prepared to offer Alisson a lucrative "2+1" deal—two guaranteed years with an option for a third. At his age, that kind of security could be tempting, though it remains to be seen whether Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes will budge on a transfer fee.
Juventus would ideally like Alisson on a free transfer, but reports from Tutto Juve peg the potential fee at around €10 million. Meanwhile, Liverpool already has Giorgi Mamardashvili in place as a potential successor, but club decision-makers aren't entirely comfortable thrusting the Georgian into the starting role just yet.
Instead, Liverpool is scouring the market for reinforcements—and that's where PSG comes in. According to the same report, Lucas Chevalier is high on the Premier League champions' wish list. The 24-year-old French goalkeeper joined PSG from Lille last summer for around €40 million, stepping in as Gianluigi Donnarumma's replacement. But his start in Paris has been shaky, and he's lost his spot to Matvey Safonov under manager Luis Enrique.
Despite a contract running until 2030, Chevalier could be available this summer—and Liverpool is ready to pounce. "The name they're most interested in is Lucas Chevalier," the report states. "Long monitored by the Reds' scouts, the 2001-born player could leave Paris after a difficult season. Despite his transfer from Lille for around €40 million, Lucas Chevalier has found little playing time at PSG, where Luis Enrique has opted to focus on Matvey Safonov."
Another name in the frame to potentially replace Alisson is Aston Villa's Emiliano Martinez. With Villa needing a major sale to balance the books, the World Cup-winning Argentine could be a more experienced option for Liverpool's net.
Whether it's Chevalier or another target, one thing is clear: Liverpool's goalkeeping situation is far from settled—and the summer window could bring major changes to the position.
