Days after hearing that former UNC center Henri Veesaar was entering the NBA Draft, Michael Malone has earned a commitment from Northwestern transfer Cade Bennerman. This move adds some depth to Malone’s front court, though it will be a while before we find out what kind of depth Bennerman will be.

Bennerman is a 7-foot forward from Nashville, TN, and was ranked as the second-best player in Tennessee according to 247Sports. He never got to play during his freshman season for the Wildcats, so the reporting on this commitment has projected him as a developmental piece for Malone.

Losing out on Veesaar released a lot of money that Malone can now use to bolster his roster, so getting a guy like Bennerman is one step in a multi-step process. The team still needs a starting center, and it is widely believed that UNC will be looking internationally to fill in some spots. All and all, this is a solid move for the Tar Heels, but the quest to complete the starting lineup continues.

What do you think of the Heels picking up Bennerman? Let us know in the comments below.
