Former Alabama head coach Nick Saban found himself in hot water.

Saban, who is part of ESPN’s NFL Draft coverage, let it slip on a hot mic during a break what he really thought about the Dallas Cowboys drafting defensive end Malachi Lawrence out of the University of Central Florida.

“Wow, this is a reach,” Saban could be heard saying off the air, back on the air, Saban said something totally different.

“Actually, this guy was one of my sleepers for tomorrow,” Saban said. “But he is a good player. . . . This guy is a good player. I thought he was someone that was getting overlooked in the draft, but obviously the Cowboys didn’t overlook him.”

Saban is known for his bluntness, which is why it may have been a shock to some how rosy he was when the cameras came back on, but the former head coach may have been trying to be diplomatic.

Everyone tries to be kind at the draft; this is nothing new. Saban admitted throughout the draft how he missed on several players when he was the coach at Alabama.
