The Nebraska Cornhuskers kicked off the weekend in style, securing a commanding 10-0 victory over the Iowa Hawkeyes at Haymarket Park. Coming off a tough week, the Big Red faithful packed the stands eager to see if their team could bounce back—and they did not disappoint.

With two of the Big Ten's top hitting teams facing off, fans expected a high-scoring affair under perfect baseball skies. But it was Nebraska's pitching and timely power that stole the show, ending the game early with back-to-back home runs.

Starter Carson Jasa had a rollercoaster opening inning. After an error by Joshua Overbeek put the leadoff batter on, Jasa settled in to retire the next two hitters. But true to his unpredictable nature, he then hit two consecutive batters to load the bases. No worries, though—Matthew Delgado flied out to center to end the threat.

Nebraska's offense got rolling in the second inning. Case Sanderson led off with a walk, and after a fielder's choice, Drew Grego also drew a free pass. That brought up Overbeek, who ripped a double down the third-base line to plate the game's first run. The Huskers looked poised for a big inning, but Rhett Stokes struck out and Iowa starter Tyler Guerin snagged a line drive to escape further damage.

From there, Jasa found his rhythm. He was untouchable in the second and third innings, striking out four of six batters. In the fourth, he worked around a hit and a walk, thanks to a slick 6-4-3 double play that kept the Hawkeyes off the board.

The game remained tight until the late innings, when Nebraska's bats erupted. The exclamation point came on back-to-back home runs by Buettenback and Carey, ending the game early and sending the Haymarket Park crowd into a frenzy. It was the perfect start to the weekend for a Cornhusker team looking to make a statement in conference play.
