The Bruins added a lot of talent in the transfer portal this year. It's the same recipe as last year for UCLA in the portal, which led to a title.

The UCLA Bruins women's basketball team just pulled off a season for the ages—going 37-1 and capturing the NCAA championship. But in college sports, success is fleeting, and head coach Cori Close knows that better than anyone. While the Bruins will inevitably take a step back from that historic run, they're not about to fade into the background.

Close wasted no time after the title celebration, diving into the transfer portal to reload. With six seniors moving on to the WNBA Draft, the Bruins needed reinforcements—and they found them. ESPN's Michael Voepel recently ranked UCLA's transfer portal class as the No. 5 best in the country, a testament to the program's ability to adapt and thrive.

The Bruins added serious talent: Addy Brown from Oklahoma State, Elina Aarnisalo from North Carolina, KK Bransford from Notre Dame, Donovyn Hunter from TCU, and Bonnie Deas from Arkansas. Voepel noted that four of those five players were double-digit scorers last season, with Brown also bringing strong interior defense. It's the same formula that worked last year—using the portal to build a championship roster.

Perhaps the most impressive part? UCLA didn't lose a single player to the portal. Every eligible Bruin is returning to Westwood to defend the title. That kind of roster stability, combined with a top-five transfer class, has the Bruins poised for another deep run.

Oklahoma State topped Voepel's list, followed by Louisville, Ole Miss, and TCU—but don't sleep on UCLA. After a senior-heavy championship squad, Close and her staff have done a commendable job filling the gaps. The dynasty might just be getting started.
