The Michigan State women's basketball team is building serious momentum. Coming off one of their strongest seasons in recent years, the Spartans have secured a significant piece for their future, landing a commitment from former Colorado forward Tabitha Betson via the transfer portal.
Betson, a 6-foot-2 forward from Melbourne, Australia, brings valuable experience from a Colorado program that reached the NCAA Tournament. As a sophomore, she was a key rotational player, averaging over 19 minutes per game for the Buffaloes.
Her skill set offers an intriguing fit for the Spartans' offense. Betson is a stretch forward who isn't afraid to let it fly from deep, with more than half of her shot attempts coming from three-point range. While her 33.9% shooting from distance shows room for growth, her excellent 83.3% mark from the free-throw line suggests a smooth, repeatable shooting stroke with potential for greater consistency.
This addition addresses a modern need for floor-spacing in the frontcourt and gives Head Coach Robyn Fralick a versatile weapon as Michigan State looks to reload and make another run in the competitive Big Ten.
