Mikel Arteta has delivered a worrying update on Ben White's injury, admitting "it doesn't look good" after the Arsenal defender was forced off during Sunday's 1-0 win over West Ham. The 28-year-old right-back was visibly in pain, needing help from medical staff to leave the pitch following a tackle on Crysencio Summerville. He was later seen wearing a knee brace as he departed the London Stadium.

"We don't know, but it doesn't look good at all," Arteta said. "He needs some further testing tomorrow, and then we will know." The timing couldn't be worse for White, who earned a shock recall to the England squad in March under Thomas Tuchel. With the World Cup squad set to be named on Friday, 22 May, this injury could dash his hopes of making the trip to North America.

Arsenal's defensive woes don't end there. Arteta also confirmed that Riccardo Calafiori picked up an issue during the match and was replaced at halftime. The injury forced a reshuffled backline, with Declan Rice moving to right-back before Cristhian Mosquera came on after Calafiori's withdrawal. With Jurrien Timber also sidelined, Arteta faces a defensive crisis ahead of the final two Premier League games and the Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain on 30 May.

For White, a strong end to the season was crucial to securing his place in Tuchel's plans. Now, fans and pundits alike will be anxiously awaiting the results of those tests, hoping the injury isn't as serious as it first appeared.
