Texas football has landed another key piece for its 2026 defense, securing a commitment from veteran linebacker Darius Snow via the transfer portal. The former Michigan State Spartan, who will be a seventh-year senior, brings a wealth of experience and a hard-nosed playing style to Austin.

Snow is coming off a 2025 season where he made 12 appearances and three starts for the Spartans, recording 34 tackles, three for loss, and a sack. His most productive campaign came in 2021, where he posted a career-high 81 tackles, an interception, and a fumble recovery while playing nickelback, showcasing his versatility before moving to linebacker.

This move marks a homecoming for Snow, who played his high school football at Hebron High School in Texas. He now joins a Longhorns program aggressively reloading its roster after a playoff near-miss last season. Snow is the 21st transfer to commit to Texas this offseason, a class headlined by major additions like wide receiver Cam Coleman and linebacker Rasheem Biles.

Snow will now play under the guidance of new Texas defensive coordinator Will Muschamp, whose hiring has generated significant buzz. College football analyst David Pollack has already pegged Muschamp as the potential best DC in the country, citing his aggressive scheme and ability to instill a tougher attitude—a perfect fit for a veteran defender like Snow looking to make a final impact.

With proven production and six years of Big Ten experience under his belt, Darius Snow adds immediate depth, leadership, and a physical presence to a Texas linebacker corps determined to play with a new edge in 2026.
